Jan 30-31 Combined Test Report - The first Combined Test of the 2010 Winterfest Series, and is over. Unfortunately with a low turnout, and without anyone finishing the Combined Tests as scheduled so there are no overall results. However, thank you to the people who did attend as it was a cold weekend. We will give it another try February 27-28 and then make a decision on the balance of the 2010 Series. Irregardless of the Combined Test option event riders are welcome to the Winterfest Dressage and Jumper Shows at all locations in order to practice these phases prior to the eventing season starting. Photos may be found on websites for photographers Lisa Yates (dressage) Andrew Bailini (jumping).

JAN 22/10 UPDATE - EC ADVISED TODAY THE EC DRUG TESTING FEE IS REDUCED FROM $5.00 TO $3.50 FOR 2010 BRONZE LEVEL SHOWS. The 2010 Winterfest Dressage Series Entry Form is revised. If you already printed an Entry Form that has a $5.00 Drug Fee, please amend this item to $3.50. Thank you.

We look forward to providing the first Four Seasons Combined Test Series. It is a very useful opportunity for event riders. Bring your horses to train, practice, and further develop their dressage and jumping skills in a relaxed, enjoyable, and quality competition environment during the off season. It is a great time for bringing along young horses, inexperienced riders, horses and riders moving up a level, and for riders wanting an opportunity to practice with their horses in preparation for horse trials in the season ahead.

Event Riders are welcome to all Winterfest Shows, but specifically invited for the Winterfest Combined Test Series at RCRA which provides a $25 savings versus entering individual classes. There is also a $15 savings on the second day of stabling should you need it. For 2010 the Combined Test Series is incorporated within the Winterfest Dressage and Jumper Series at RCRA. We look forward to providing a separate Combined Test Series in future years if the response in 2010 indicates that will be viable.

In addition to the Combined Test(s) entered, enter additional individual eventing dressage and jumper classes you wish to ride using the Combined Test Entry Form page 2. You do not need to send in copies of dressage tests to the show just ensure specifics are on your Entry Form. Eventing dressage tests may be found on the OHTA web site, link listed to the left. Horses competing in Dressage and Jumper classes on a Winterfest Series weekend at RCRA, without using the Combined Test classes available, still receive a $20 discount from their Jumper show fees.

Dressage Scores for the Combined Test placings
Percentage is obtained by dividing total good marks of the judge (minus any error of course or test) by maximum possible good marks obtainable and then multiplying by 100 and rounding the result to two decimal digits. In order to convert the percentage into penalty points, this is subtracted from 100 and multiplied by 1.5, with the resulting figure being rounded to one decimal digit. The result is the score in penalty points for the test.

Allocating placings for Combined Tests at Winterfest Shows
Penalty points as calculated above from the Dressage Test are added to any penalties incurred in the jumping test. Placings are by the total penalties, with the lowest placed 1st. Ribbons are to 5th. Whenever competitors are tied in penalties the competitor with the least number of faults (jumping and time) in the jumping test shall be placed ahead. If still tied the best score of the collective marks of the dressage test is placed ahead. If still tied, placings and awards are the same.

Series Champion
A Championship Chart shall be updated after each show. The horse with lowest penalty points from its best 3 Combined Test results will be declared the Series Champion. More details on prizes will be announced.

Please note! Do not contact the facilities if you have questions. The facilities are not involved in organizing the Winterfest Series, just rented by the show day. Instead contact the Winterfest Series Organizer, Rob Robertson at rjrhorseshows@aol.com C) 416-727-9548
